Strong Mothers, Strong Families in October—Win a Prize Pack
I’m so excited to let you know that October is a special month for moms here at MegMeekerMD.com!
This month, I’m focusing on mothers because we are so very important. I want you, Mom, to be healthy and strong, which means your family is healthy and strong.
As we all know, October is an active month for awareness of a variety of issues, including:
- Anti-bullying
- Breast cancer
- SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome)
I’ll have special posts focused on these topics—and many others—for moms.
On October 24-26, I’ll be a special guest on Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk radio program, talking about—you guessed it—happy mothers.
And, then on November 1, I’ll be giving away a special prize package for mom’s mind, body, and soul. When you leave a comment on any post with the “Strong Mothers, Strong Families” badge, you’ll be entered to win this prize, featuring:
- Meg Meeker books
- Vicks Behind the Ear Thermometer
- Cookbooks
from $5 Dinners.com by Erin Chase
- A six-month lunch and dinner subscription to Emeals.com
- An envelope system and set of kids’ books from DaveRamsey.com

I’ll choose the winner by random.org on November 1.

oh, the greatest challenge of strong health is getting to the gym…if i can get to the gym to burn off my frustrations of my day i come back a better mom for focusing on myself for just an hour. it’s trying to find the time to do this that is the trick.
oh, and i shared your link on my facebook
Love your books! Thank you for reminding both mothers and fathers of the important work that we have to do as parents.
I posted the link on my twitter feed.
I look forward to your posts this month! I could certainly use the encouragement.
Posted on Facebook! I should also say that what I have a hard time with health wise is trying to feed my picky eaters. It seems that at times they are wonderful eaters and other times will eat nothing. I need help finding the balance between getting them to eat healthy and them eating in general.
Thanks so much for your encouraging posts! As a Mom of two very active boys I am always looking for wisdom in parenting and I love to read your comments on current issues and how to apply positive behavior with my children.
My greatest challenge to healthy eating is time. I menu plan our meals but not our snacks so when the kids are on at me for snacks I’m not ready and reach for crackers or biscuits (and fruit). My kids need to eat every hour it seems!
I love your blog and rely on your helpful advice to help raise my daughters in this crazy world.
Looking forward to all your posts this month!
I tweeted the link to this post.
It is an overwhelming job…but the benefits are wonderful! Wouldn’t trade being a mom for anything! Love your advice and support…thank you!
Go Meg!!!
I’m the divorced mother of three boys, ages 12, 10 and 8. I have a treadmill in my basement, because it isn’t feasable that I can get to a gym after a full day of work, after school activities, homework, dinner, etc. I typically walk / run on it after they are in bed. I get a lot of reading done there too. In the past year, however, my boys have taken an interest in working out with mom. I have some weights and an excercise ball that they like to use now, including my treadmill. They were naturally drawn to this and have fun competing with each other on how fast they can run. My biggest challenge to our family’s health (all aspects, physical, emotional and spiritual) are related to not having enough time in the day! Thank you for the opportunity to share and learn from others. God Bless!
My greatest challenge to staying healthy is making myself a priority-as a working mother there is always something that needs to be done, and I need to remember its ok to take half an hour for me too!
My biggest obstacle to good health is the lack of “alone time” I have. I’m a big introvert!
I’ve read three of your books – including 10 Habits of Happy Mothers – and gained a lot from them. We have 2 toddler boys and a newborn girl so the hardest habits for me right now are getting enough sleep and “me time”, obviously! But thank goodness my husband tries to help a lot! Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters is on my Christmas list to give to my husband
Working out is such a challenge with two small children to care for and a hard working husband. I aspire to be one of those 5am runners…
So appreciating your health-ful medical perspective to reinforce my mother’s intuition! Keep up the great work!
Awesome! I love giveaways! My family and my love for being active keeps my healthy and strong. Chocolate and my lack of self-control are my biggest weaknesses.
As the mother of three girls, I am always looking for guidance on promoting self esteem and confidence. Your emails are great! Thank you!
Loved listening to you on Dr. Radio! Looking forward to more of your information and advice.
Taking care of myself is very difficult. I put so much effort into making sure the kids are eating healthy and exercising and being read to, that I eat junk food that is quick and easy, never exercise and never read books for myself anymore. It’s hard finding that balance and it’s nice to be reminded that strong mothers make for strong families and to be a strong mother I need to take care of myself. Thanks for the reminder!
I shared on FB!!!
Since I am a new Christian, what keeps me healthy & strong is my BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) class! I am blown away by God’s Word. This is creating peace and energy I never had before. My favorite gym was CrossFit. I would like to go back to that. My biggest challenge is that I don’t love to cook (but I love cookbooks and watching people cook) and I find making healthy meals at home difficult. Shopping, prepping, cooking (and then having 2 kids who don’t love what I work hard to make) usually leaves me exhausted.
What keeps me healthy is eating REAL foods (yogurts, cheeses, bone broths, fruits and veggies, raw honey) and lots of vitamin D!!
I think what keeps me strong and healthy is to get enough sleep, eat real food while sitting and not standing over the sink, get outside and get exercise, take the time to read The Bible everyday, spend time with my husband, and spending time just talking with the kids. The biggest challenge is to my health is how even though I know at age 40 that I need to do these things to feel my best I shortchange myself and don’t get enough sleep most of the time, I sometimes put things that are not as important in front of what is important and I rush around too much trying to do a bunch of stuff that does not even matter. Since realizing this I am getting better though, it is really hard.
I love Meg Meeker’s teaching! Her Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters book has totally changed my husband’s relationship with our daughter! I also have 6 month old twin boys and am eager to read her book on Happy Mothers!!
What keeps me healthy and strong is my son and my desire to be around for a long time for him! My greatest challenges are getting my husband on board with the healthy eating (as he cooks dinner every weekday) and getting my three-year-old to eat vegetables! I love your stuff Dr. Meeker – thank you!

What keeps me healthy and strong is taking care of myself and making that a priority. I make a point to eat healthy as well as have me time. I enjoy reading so that’s what I do for myself on a regular basis. It relaxes me and keeps me energized to tackle motherhood/wifehood. Even a half hour a day of me time does wonders. What I struggle with the most is exercising, especially in the hot months here in Florida. I know it’s important but it seems to be the last thing on my priority list.
with 3 boys and a daughter, I’m always reading to glean wisdom on being a mother/parent. All 3 (Meg Meeker) books were filled with so much wisdom! I have bought and suggested Strong Fathers Strong Daughters to my husband and many fathers in my church, to do as a small group. Dave Ramsey’s envelope system is on my list, I need to teach my children to be smart with their finances.
Exercising & eating healthy is not an easy task, but more of a lifestyle change…. one step at a time. I had to make changes in my diet, had some stomach issues last year. Been juicing a lot and trying to exercise for at least 30 mins, and I feel great!
It’s not easy trying to take care of yourself, after being on the bottom of the list for so many years. However, if you feel great as a parent, that will trickle down to the kids too!
As a mother of three boys, ages 5, 3, and 1, what keeps me healthy and strong is lower expectations. And not comparing myself to others. And figuring out what I am REALLY responsible for (not as easy as I’d like for it to be.)
What’s my greatest challenge to good health? Myself…and vegetables.
Love learning from you. Thanks for what you do.
Just learned about you after hearing you on Dave Ramsey’s show . . . Looks like you have some great material out there! Looking forward to getting more familiar with it!
Just told my wife about your being on Family Talk! Also finishing up Strong Fathers Strong Daughters.
Wondering where you went on twitter…thanks!
I really enjoyed hearing you this weekend at Downline Women’s Summit! What an encouragement you are for me as a new mom! I’m so excited to have you as a partner in Christ and resource along my journey of motherhood!
Thank you, Dr. Meeker for all you do in sharing advice. You are my favorite author! My greatest challenge to good health is just having the energy to do it all and then add on some time to work out.
I heard you today on Dr. Dobson’s show. It was so encouraging to hear what you said about Moms of adult children. I really haven’t heard the issues discussed the way you did. I look forward to hearing more from you and reading your books.
Thank you for all the books and soical networking that you do. I have learned so much.
I heard you this morning while driving home from the store. What I heard touched my heart as a mother of two girls, ages 19 and 20, so I sat in the car in the driveway ’til the end of the show so I could learn your name and the name of your book:) I “bing”-ed your name this evening and here I am! What keeps me healthy and strong? Walking, having nutritious foods on hand that I like and will eat both at work and home, walking, making conscientious and healthy choices when I am dining out, oh, and did I mention walking?! My greatest challenges are that I don’t like to shop for groceries or cook. It used to be that I thought I couldn’t leave the house in an imperfect state to go and do something as selfish as walking. I finally let myself do that during the summer of 2011! Praise the Lord, I have dropped 4 pants sizes since then!
Thanks for the chance to win! I am looking forward to reading The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers, whether I win or not;)
I’ve just heard the first of the three day broadcasts and look forward to the next two days.
Thanks for your great insights! God bless!
Just heard the broadcast from familytalk. Full of wisdom. That’s why I am checking out here.
I got really sick this summer (was hospitalized several times) and was not able to do all my “Mom” duties. Until now, I did realize how true and important it is to keep yourself healthy and fit! The whole house functions better when Mom is well!
Enjoyed the Family Talk broadcasts. Shared this on my FB.
Reading is a great refresher for me! So is going on a walk and praying.
I shared this on my FB and twitter! Thanks!!
Oh woops, here’s a separate comment that I shared your link on my FB.
And here’s another separate comment that I also shared your link on twitter. Thanks!
love this page and big thanks to my referral whitney!!
Thanks to all the wise women for sharing your stories. As a mother of 3 boys, I look forward to your new book!
How exciting. Something just for me as a mom!
My husband read “Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters” before our daughter was born. Thank you Dr. Meeker for your wisdom and your writing. We both feel more equipped to raise a strong, self-confident woman. I came here looking to follow you on twitter and I’m looking forward to finding more gems of parenting advice.
I love your books. October is also respect life month too!!
I love your books! I reposted this blog on facebook
The best way I can try to get physical activity in is by wearing tennis shoes- all the time! Running up the stairs, chasing a kid through the parking lot, racing a shopping cart through the store before the kids throw a fit…. As an added measure I also wear yoga pants and sports bra, but with my kids I’m usually panting and sweating up a storm by 7:40 am! My biggest challenge is handling the stress. I’m still working on that one.
Shared on facebook. I love your books and love listening to you on Teresea Tomeo. Thank you for all you do and inspiration .
Sometimes it can just get to be too much for us moms. Financial and family pressures, keeping kids God-centered, just keeping it all together can be our biggest challenge. Watching scenes from Hurricane Sandy sure puts things in perspective though…, things could always be worse. God Bless!
I try to stay healthy by making sure to get enough sleep, so that means that many other things do not get done!
Dr. Meeker is a wise voice for this generation of parents! Keep speaking/teaching/writing the truth!!! Thank you!
U rock!
I need all the strength I can get with 5 boys and 1 girl!! love your stuff!!!
Meg, my husband and I love your books, and I love listening to Teresa Tomeo’s show when you are on! Keep speaking the truth and God bless!!
This is an amazing offer. I posted a link on my Facebook wall. I hope I did it right!
This is such a blessing to have the opportunity to win these products! Thank you
After my 1st, I fell into postpartum depression and took medication that was hard to get off of. When the 2nd came along, I vowed not to fall into depression. The third child came along, I vowed the same. What helped me was: regular exercise, regular time alone in God’s Word, The book The Power of a Praying Woman, meeting with other women for Bible study, and just being open and honest about my weakness to others who could encourage me.
